See you soon!

see you soonFor the past four weeks, we have been bringing to you guys information on how to heal our environment, improve our environmental policies as well as fight all those anti-environmentalist who are killing our beloved planet. It’s time to thank all of you for taking the time to check out our blog, follow us on Twitter and to hopefully follow the suggestions that we have provided you all with. The purpose of this blog was to demonstrate how our inactivity and lack of political presence contribute to the slow decay of our environment. Thus helping others understand that we gotta take action if we want to keep breathing clean air!

environmental decay

Many of our arguments dealt with ridiculous policies that are still being pushed in Congress so that the EPA, can lose power in the monitoring of our waterways and landscapes. Our purpose in exposing these policies was so that we can take action and make a difference, we are not all moved by money and greed, some of us value more important things, such as leaving a healthy planet for future generations and enjoying a nice healthy planet while we can. We need to push hard so that as we said in a previous post we stop using fossil fuels, justifying the reasoning’s behind the vetoing of many, many environmental projects, and justifying the un-protection of our waterways. We have to remember that if we the people that care don’t do anything to heal the environment, then we are helping those who don’t,  finish killing it faster!

killing the environment

One of our greatest and most rewarding surprises during this Blog project was the amount of people that followed our blog. When we started our blog was very dull and some could say our post were long and tedious to read, but as the days went by we started making things more interesting and followers started coming and we felt so happy and proud that people actually wanted to read what we had to say. We only hope that you guys are applying the tips we advised in your daily routines.

proactiveThe biggest difficulties we had as a group for this blog, were: first, we were not sure exactly how long and formal the blog had to be and at the beginning the blog was very essay formatted and very plain. After some really harsh criticism from our professor, we rearranged the format, design, theme, tag line and heading of our blog and started adding more visuals on each post. The second difficulty was adding the twitter widget, all three of us are very technically awkward and had no clue how to do it–it took us about a week to get it working, but thanks to google we got it! Lol. The third difficulty was obviously coming up with new material that supported our claims without sounding cliched or boring and keep being consistent. But with a lot of team work and communication we overcame all of our difficulties and manage to have a great blog, that many of you enjoy.

group

So how do we end this? Well, we hope you have learned various new earth-friendly techniques. We hope that we make an influence during your daily routines. As you will note, the smallest act can make a difference. All you have to do is put some effort (this doesn’t require gas) and be motivated (this either) to try your best. So remember, make friends with trees! Soooooo…

thank you

Save Animal Habitats

FisheriesHabitat

A great way to preserve our environment is to preserve the many different species, we have as well as their habitat. Preserving their habitat is very important if we want ecosystems to sustain themselves. However, there is so much pressure today to destroy all of these habitats for things such as resorts, hotels, hunting, and logging that it is sometimes hard to preserve them. We should all do what we can in order to preserve ecosystems around the world. How can you take a stand and bring more attention and changes to this issue?

I need new wheels!

new wheels

So you want a new car but don’t want a hybrid? Hmm, that can be arranged! In case you didn’t know, car manufacturers try their best to make cars more fuel efficient every year. Why? Because of this! … “The rule sets the equivalent of 54.5 miles per gallon as the average the auto industry must achieve by 2025”. This rule was established by the government, as they set strict miles-per-gallon rules for the auto industry (Huu-ray!!). Why am I happy? Better yet, why should you be happy about this? Well, honestly, what is there to complain about? Having a more efficient car, means you that can drive longer on lonnnnnnng trips. You don’t have to consistently stop at gas stations and fill up!

According to the article, “We’re very happy. This is a good rule, a strong rule. This is the biggest step this country’s taken to reduce pollution and our dependence on oil since the original 1970s” federal regulations, says Roland Hwang, NRDC’s transportation director.”

happy car

You see these new government rules don’t just help us save money in our wallets but also the environment. According to the article, “A Supreme Court decision since has categorized carbon emissions, which are blamed for global warming, as a pollutant, requiring the EPA to regulate them. The carbon dioxide that comes out of a car’s exhaust is directly linked to the amount of fuel it burns, so the new regs set 163 grams of carbon emissions per mile as the target, and that converts to 54.5 mpg.”

The good news is that, they plan to keep increasing the MPG standards because they see IT IS POSSIBLE to have a non-hybrid car achieves good gas efficiency. In other news, I need a new car.

Let’s smoke them!!

smoking priusHave you ever heard of the term “coal rolling” or “Prius repellent”? Mm…probably not. That’s because it’s a new trend among groups of very “smart” individuals, whom are throwing tantrums because the Obama administration and the EPA, are taking care of the air we breath, the water we drink and the land we live in! “Coal rolling” or “Prius repellent” consist of blowing black smoke through an unfiltered exhaust pipe, usually targeting pedestrians and eco-friendly cars. People that usually take part in this act are “Diesel truck enthusiast” who believe that the allegations made by the government regarding the pollution effects caused by their engines are fake. So in a very “smart” form of protest, they spend about $125 dollars to fill up their tank and blast black smoke into the air!

diesel price

Now, I don’t know how many of these people have stable jobs and how good their income is; but based on the high prices of diesel and considering the $500 bucks needed to install the mechanism that produces the black smoke, you would think this is a very expensive and stupid protest.. right?! Well, it is, and for some people this “coal rolling” protest is nothing more than a hobby. Something that they have done for a while and it’s just for kicks. So the constant harassment towards Prius drivers and pedestrians is not on purpose, it just happens…

harrasment

EXACTLY!!
These “smarticles” are harassing people just because they are choosing not to drive a big old truck that blast smoke; not only is this childish but it’s an attack on the human right to clean air. These coal rollers are doing this in an attempt to “rebel” against the system, but perhaps they don’t realize that their rebellion just proves to the government how much these cars with diesel performing engines are harming our planet. These people are so delusional that they don’t realize that the only reason coal rolling has gotten so much media attention is because so many people want to provide proof of the dangers behind these acts, so we can report them and work on harsh punishments for them. Because in case no one knew, “rolling coal” is ILLEGAL! Only because you don’t want fresh air does not mean we don’t, so get your head out of that tail pipe and do something productive with your life—STOP POLLUTING!!
